Tap
FLBA primarily teaches contemporary tap.
This is the most popular style at workshops, on television, on Broadway and in the movies. Our main objective is to create a rhythm tapper, with a varied background including ballet, jazz, and other various skills.
We focus on total body movement, placing the emphasis on technical correctness, while performing the sounds of tap on the balls of the feet.
We offer a wide range of classes, from beginner to advanced levels.
Dancers may take up to 2 tap classes per week.
Tap Dress Code:
For Female Tap Students:
•Solid colored leotard
•Pink, tan, or black tights
•Tap shoes
For Male Tap students:
•White shirt
•Black pants
•Tap shoes
Proper dance attire is important in enhancing a productive learning environment in dance class. Students feel more like dancers, and are less distracted, when they are dressed appropriately. Hair must be pulled back in a bun– no ponytails. Short hair must be held back off the face with a barrette.
Please adhere to the dress code as described. Students should enter the studio in their dancewear. No street clothes or shoes are allowed in the studio. Only proper dance warm-ups (leg-warmers, dance sweaters, etc.) should be worn. No jewelry for class except post earrings, please.
